Sweden vs France

Sweden have been led by a few key players in the qualifying round. Captain Andreas Granqvist has played every minute thus far, and looks to shut down the French attack better than in the previous match, which ended as a 2-1 loss. Marcus Berg, a 30-year-old striker, is tied for the team lead with two goals. Emil Forsburg has played all but 16 minutes, and has been key for Sweden’s midfield and link-up play.

France have been very good in qualifying thus far. They have won four straight matches since an unexpected draw away to Belarus in the first contest. After cruising past Bulgaria 4-1, France won two close matches against the Netherlands and Sweden. They had to come from behind to win against Sweden as well. After conceding a goal in the first 10 minutes after halftime, Paul Pogba and Dimitri Payet hit back with a goal apiece to end up on top. France have four players with two goals each in the qualifying round, and boast a varied attack.

Who’s playing: Currently on top of Group A, France will hope to take one step towards securing a spot at the World Cup in Russia as they take on Sweden. However, their opponents are only three points behind and could blow this group wide open by nicking at least a point off Les Blues later today.
