US Senior Open of Golf 2017: Dates, Tee Times, TV Info, Prize Money, U.S. Senior Open notebook: Bernhard Langer ages better than anyone else on tour,
The 2017 U.S. Senior Open begins at the Salem Country Club in Peabody, Massachusetts, on Thursday, with a host of legends ready to battle. The opening round sees Nick Faldo and Tom Watson on the course, as well as Bernhard Langer and Fred Couples. According to Fox Sports, a $3.75 million prize fund will be on offer for the participating veterans to share.
Langer, 59, had a stretch from 1980-2002 of finishing in the top 30 of the European Tour’s Order of Merit each year sans one, appeared in 10-of-11 Ryder Cups between 1981-2002 (1999 in Brookline the exception) and won the Masters twice, in 1985 and ’93.
Despite those lofty credentials, it has been since he turned 50 that Langer has really dominated his peers. Since joining the Champions Tour in 2007, Langer has won 32 times, including a record nine majors.
tee times for the first two rounds of the 38th U.S. Senior Open were announced last week by the United States Golf Association (USGA). Rounds 1-2 are June 29-30 at Salem Country Club in Peabody, Mass.
