The United States, led by NHL prospects Clayton Keller, Colin White, Luke Kunin and Kieffer Bellows, will play Canada in the final of the World Junior Hockey Championships at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Team USA beat Canada, 3-1, in a preliminary meeting. Canada features prospects Carter Hart, Julien Gauthier and Dylan Strome.

Well, this is the dream match-up. The United States vs. Canada for a gold medal. It has happened three times before, including 2004, when the United States won their first ever gold medal in this event, and most recently in 2010, when the United States won a crazy 6-5 game in overtime in Saskatoon, in what remains one of the craziest, greatest games in a tournament that specializes in great and crazy games.

The United States handed Russia a thrilling 4-3 shootout loss when the teams met in the semifinals on Wednesday. Troy Terry scored three times in the seven-round shootout, including the winner that capped off the showdown.

Canada edged Sweden, 5-2, after goalie Carter Hart stopped all 28 shots he faced after entering the game for Connor Ingram, who allowed two goals on three shots.
